Ingredients
- Red Onions
- Brown Sugar
- Apple Cider Vinegar (or any vinegar will do)
Method:
- Peel your red onions. I usually take off the topmost layer, to ensure there's no skin left. It's a horrible feeling to bite into some cooked onion only to find a solid piece of onion skin! Ew.
- Chop your onions into thin strips.
- In a pan heat up a dash of your oil of choice, make it nice and hot.
- Add your onions and immediately turn the heat to low. Stir regularly to prevent them overcooking at the bottom or sticking to the pan.
- We need to cook the onions for around 20-25 minutes. Stir the onions regularly. If the pan gets too dry or the onions start to stick pour in some water and give it all a stir.
- After 20-25 minutes have passed, or your onions have turned a tasty brown colour, add in a shot of apple cider vinegar and two teaspoons of brown sugar.
- Stir generously to mix it all together, and let it cook for a further 5 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy!
